CAMP LIFE - Camp Hecate

Welcome

WELCOME TO CAMP

Maybe you loved camp as a child and you miss it something fierce. Maybe you never got the chance back in the day and you’re ready to reclaim your time at camp. Maybe you’re having a harder time than you ever dreamed creating and maintaining friendships. Maybe you need a break from your life to recharge.

Whatever you are seeking, Camp Hecate will find a way to give it to you.

Our programming is designed with intention and was created to enhance the benefits that the structure of a camp day inevitably provides. We hear so often from women that they don’t have the opportunity to rest, do topical “deep dives,” create art, move their bodies, read, or play, and so we make sure that we provide opportunities each and every day for all of that!

PACKING LIST

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Would it really be Camp without some throwback arts & crafts? We contend that it would not. Traditional “camp crafts” are just as fun, if not even more so, as a grown-up. Enjoy crafts you can work on throughout the session and take home to enjoy year-round. We believe that intentionally creating for the joy of with rather than for the outcome is a valuable experience.

FIELD DAY

Our inclusive Field Day brings together all kinds of Campers—those who enjoy brain teasers, those who need to remain in the shade, those who are athletic and competitive, those who primarily enjoy cheering…there’s something for every Camper to enjoy at Field Day. Two teams compete in ten events for a shot at the Magical Cow Bell!

SERVICE PROJECT

Campers will have the option to participate in a service project benefitting a disenfranchised or oppressed population while learning about steps they can take within their own communities to make a difference for those affected. In 2019, Campers learned about the Menstrual Movement and period poverty while creating over fifty period packs to benefit the Atlanta Mission.

THE HAPPENING

That’s right, we stage a good old-fashioned happening here at Camp Hecate. Textile art, fine art, magic, music, dance, poetry, storytelling, stripping…this showcase of both static and performance art installations against the backdrop of the exquisite Auditorium is something that truly must be seen to be believed.

Campers come to the mountains of North Georgia to receive that which they’ve been depleted of: rest, freedom from caregiving, nature, the movement of bodies for the simple love of it, symbiosis with others, and—we feel this is key—PLAY.

We spend several days taking care of all needs so that women may begin to indulge their desires. And, as we’ve found out, many women desire to change the world.

Camp Hecate helps them do just that.

Camp Hecate helps them do just that.
